icelandferries.com is a multilingual information site for the ferry connections to and around Iceland. The Atlantic route is served by the Norröna, operated by the Faroese shipping line Smyril Line, sailing from Hirtshals in Denmark via Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands to Seyðisfjörður in eastern Iceland. Alongside this route, the site also covers the local ferries linking Iceland's coastal towns with their offshore islands.

The crossing is not the quick way to Iceland and was never meant to be. A flight reaches Keflavík in hours; the Norröna takes days and casts off in northern Jutland, so the drive to Hirtshals is already part of the journey. What it gives you instead is your own vehicle at the other end, loaded with everything you want to have with you. That makes the questions practical ones: how the sailing pattern thins out between the summer and winter timetables, what a booked berth and a car deck that stays shut mean for the hours in between, and why dogs and cats cannot come along, since Iceland treats every animal as an import rather than a travelling pet. The local ferries inside Iceland are a different matter, short hops between coastal towns and their offshore islands, and we keep them apart from the Atlantic crossing.
